It seems your original section had a little bit more variation in it. For example, the large space on the top is one long space, but without any variation in it. In your orignal section, a wall element from your lower floor reached up into a second or third floor.
Another way to do this is to focus this long space on a view outside of the project, and this could be better presented in your perspective by collaging in a background that the space is focused on.
The second view has some promise, especially with the ability to see people at multiple levels. It appears there is a separate between two sides of your spaces. Perhaps you need a bridge or something across that space - or better yet, a spatial element, like a vertical element or space, that will both connect these two separate pieces, but also give the section the variation needed. If you can see people on multiple levels, then you are succeeding.
